For those of us who are not vegetarian the idea of planning a delicious and fulfilling meal for both meat and non-meat eaters may seem like somewhat of a challenge whilst on holiday. However there are a number of tasty vegetarian options which can easily be prepared in order to please your diverse guests, even the meat eaters will love them!!
The first step in preparing a healthy and tasty vegetarian friendly meal is to find out whether your friends are vegetarian or vegan, that is do they still incorporate foods such as dairy products and eggs? If they do there are a lot more options, however if they don’t there are still many tasty dishes which can be prepared for everyone to enjoy. Also it is always helpful to ask for ideas and input from your vegetarian guests they may have some favorite recipes which always go down well.
Simple ideas include using a vegetable stock, rather than meat based or substituting meat with other foods such as tofu. In addition to this meat drippings and other products can often be left out of otherwise vegetarian dishes. A lot of foods such as a tasty stir fry can simply be split and meat only added to half to suit everyone’s needs.
Essentially holidays are about relaxing and enjoying spending time with friends or loved ones. The best advice we could give is to remember that everyone has different tastes, take the opportunity to experience new things if you are not vegetarian yourself and you may in fact learn some new tasty and healthy recipes which become a favorite of your own. Vegetarians often incorporate foods such as nutrient rich vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds and nuts which can be an excellent addition to our diets and are made to taste delicious too!!
